Volumetric Light + Render Layer = weird behaviour


During my work in Notch I encountered a strange volumetric light behavior which I can’t understand nor overcome.
Light connected to a Volumetric Lighting by itself works as it should. The problem starts when Render Layer node comes into play - it boosts volumetric strength and changes it’s blend mode in a weird, unchecked way. Due to this, I cannot use the combination of those nodes which makes me sad, cause often I want to post-process volumetric effect separately.

Has anyone found a workaround how to enclose volumetric light in a separate layer?
