Render a depth pass

Is it possible to render a depth matte without the depth of field blurring, just a black-to-white gradient based on your cameras depth settings?

It’s possible in other 3D applications and even in 2.5 solutions like Video Copilots Element plugin for after effects, and is incredibly useful for applying all manner of interesting post-fx in an edit, not just the usual depth blur.

If it isn’t, could it be a feature request once you’ve got 1.0 released?

You can render a depth pass using the Output GBuffer node and setting the channel to Depth - Camera Space.
