Procedural Particles Error Distance


I’m having some trouble understanding how to use the error distance parameter in the procedural particles node.

Here’s a video of my project where I’m dragging the error distance parameter up and down. It starts at 0 in this clip, and as soon as I drag it above 0 I lose geometry and everything looks worse.

From what I understand the manual says that it should be the other way around.

What I’m looking for is a way to reduce jittering in my procedurals, maybe there’s another way?
